When a new passenger terminal for scheduled flights was built south of the original terminal, the latter was used for North Sea oil shuttle operations. In 2023 it is still in use for that purpose. LN-ORE was delivered to Helikopter Service in August 1966 and served on the North Sea Shuttle until leased and later sold to Helicsa as EC-FJJ in late 1991. Crashed into the sea off Tenerife, Gran Canaria 8 July 2006.

As oil exploration in the North Sea took off towards the end of the 1960s, the need for a better search and rescue service emerged. Helikopter Service was tasked with providing the service until the Sea Kings that the RNoAF had on order could be delivered.
