Fourteen Kingbird D-2s were built, two of which were exported to Turkey to provide the first air link between Ankara and Istanbul, via Eskişehir. NC601V (c/n 2007) became T.H.P.207 with Türk Hava Postalari in February 1933. Later that year it was transferred to Devlet Hava Yollari (DHY), predecessor of THY, as TC-KUŞ (with cedilla), fleet number 2. Here it is being inspected in Ankara by Atatürk, presumably at Güvercinlik. The other Kingbird, NC602V (c/n 2008), became T.H.P.208, then TC-102C with DHY (fleet number 1). It reportedly carried the name Kelebek (butterfly).
Registration / Serial:TC-KUS
Alternate Registration:TC-KUŞ
