When this slide was taken this a/c was assigned to the 69th Tactical Training Squadron at Luke AFB, AZ. This squadron was responsible for training German pilots on the F-104G. The a/c in the squadron were owned by Germany but wore USAF markings and serial numbers.

At the time, this relic location had been hard to find on the web, but the stairs of the shrine indeed led to the Starfighter. It was later repositioned and joined by two F-5s. Photo shot in the dark with a 30 second shutter speed.

Seemingly a daylight photo but actually a 30 second exposure with a nearly wide open lens. This former Luftwaffe F-104 was in ROCAF service from 1989 to 1999 and preserved at the military cemetary in Wuqi Park around 2003. The guard in his room behind me never noticed I was there.
