Relations between Belgium and Holland were not without issues after WWI and this Belgian visit to Soesterberg was an official affair, led by Lt Gen Gillieaux. The Dutch army air force commander, Maj Van Santen, must have felt outgunned! According to Dutch newspaper reports, five Avro 504Ns from the flying school at Wevelgem were involved, and X-12 wears the school's familiar pinguin emblem. The aircraft type designator X was only worn underwing. Photo from: Nederlands Instituut voor Militaire Historie
