VH-DAT was written off in February 1968 after grass under the aircraft ignited during agricultural operations. Perth TV station TVW7 acquired the damaged aircraft to display in a small museum at its studios. It was mocked up to resemble Wirraway A20-47 which was lost in the Japanese invasion of Malaya in 1942. The Ceres had been derived from the Wirraway. When the museum closed, -DAT was put in storage. Its wings were later removed for a Wirraway restoration project.
