One of three Coronados used by Varig. They had been ordered by Real Aerovias in 1960. Varig operated the Boeing 707 and DC-8 too and did not want to take delivery of the CV-990, claiming that it could not operate from São Paulo - Congonhas at maximum weight as promised, but Convair proved that it could. PP-VJE to Alaskan Airlines in 1967 as N987AS. Leased to Aerovias Ecuatorianas in 1968. To Modern Air in 1969 as N5603. Crashed at Acapulco in 1970 after a ferry flight.
