This is the first prototype of what was planned to be a five-seat composite kit helicopter for amateur construction. This photo is after it had ditched in Waitemata Harbour following a loss of power on May 7, 2013. A second flying prototype (ZK-HOL c/n 003) flew in November that year. It crashed a year later during an emergency landing near Auckland. Neither accident was fatal but the project came to an end. The name Helipod is from the developer's earlier venture making helicopter cargo pods. Tony Arbon photo
