The Z-226 variant of the Trenér first flew in 1955 and, with a more powerful engine, was first produced as the Z-226B Bohatýr glider tug with a passenger-only front cockpit. The Z-226T trainer entered production in 1956 and 226 Trenér 6 aircraft were built for military and civil users.
