Following the decision to standardize training techniques and equipment between the USAF and USN, the Trojan was introduced into the Navy's curriculum in 1952. After the USN's evaluation of the T-28A, North American developed the T-28B for the Navy that featured the more powerful 1,425 hp Wright R-1820-86 engine and a larger propeller. Some T-28Bs were converted to T-28C standard. Built in 1954, this T-28B previously served as BuNo 137657 with primary training squadron VT-2 "Doerbirds" at NAS Whiting Field, FL.
