Former serial 196 with the Irish Air Corps, this Alouette III wears the livery of c/n 1509 which pioneered medevac copter duties in Colorado from 1972, before being replaced by an AS 350 in 1992.

This airplane is the prototype and proof-of-concept demonstrator for the Adam A500, a six-seat light twin manufactured at Centennial Airport in 2006 and 2007. Burt Rutan designed the M309 (his 309th airplane design) and it made its first flight in March 2000. Unfortunately, the 2007-2008 financial crisis and dwindling demand for its products caused Adam Aircraft to go bankrupt in February 2008 after only seven A500s had been delivered. Built by K. Paser, this Mustang II first flew in 1971, and was greatly improved over the original B. Bushby's 1966 design.

Designed by a young Al Mooney, promised to a bright future in the aviation industry, the Eaglerock was for some time the best-selling aircraft in the country. Alexander aircraft production was halted by the Great Depression. (from the museum's website):This Eaglerock was built in 1929, and originally had a 100 horsepower Curtiss OX-5 engine. Now it has a 300 horsepower Lycoming radial engine. The airplane was restored by Brad Davenport between 1987 and 1993, and it flew regularly for more than 20 years until it came to the museum.

This one-of-its-kind homebuilt helicopter was designed by Art Murray, and first flew in 1974, powered by a Lycoming 135hp engine. It was given to the museum in 2005.

This diminutive, foldable (!) helicopter was designed to be dropped over an ennemy zone, to be used by downed crewmembers to fly back to friendly positions. Even if it could fly properly, there were too many problems to overcome and the type never entered production.

Despite its vintage looking, this homebuilt first flew in 1996. It uses the wings of a Twin Bonanza and the engine and prop come from a Beech 18. On loan at the museum since 2016.

This homebuilt first flew in 1976, and about ten are known to have been built eversince. It was loaned to the museum in 2007.

This small, single-seat one-of-a-kind research aircraft was designed and built by Pete Bartoe in the mid-1970s. The first test flights were in 1977, and it retired in 1978, before being briefly flown again in the early 80's. It explored the technology of increasing lift at low speeds by blowing the exhaust of the turbofan engine over the upper surfaces of the wings. Bartoe's design directed all of the engine's output to the wings. This resulted in an aircraft with an astonishing speed range, from a minimum of 40 mph to a maximum of about 400 mph! Its top speed was ten times its minimum speed!

The B-52B Stratofortress on display at Wings Over the Rockies was the seventh B-52 built and was originally created as an RB-52B for long-range reconnaissance operations. The Air Force used it for avionics testing before being converting it into a bomber. Then it served with the 93rd Bomb Wing, where it served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. In 1966, it came to Lowry Air Force Base as a training airframe for munitions loading instruction. The B-52B is on loan from the National Museum of the US Air Force. (from the Museum's website)
