The Mil Mi-4 was built in China as the Z-5. Initially the build quality was so bad that government officials were advised not to fly in the helicopter.

New demure scheme compared to its previous incarnation, also now displayed alongside the other helicopters at this wonderful museum.

Just one of an impressive number of helicopters to be seen at this wonderful museum. My only slight grumble is that they are now preserved very close together.

In addition to a huge number of interesting aircraft and helicopters the Datangshan museum also showcases other aspects of Chinese aviation. Some of the Radar exhibits are in the background - not my thing but each to their own!

The famous Datangshan museum is a truly amazing place! My only slight grumble would be that after the renovation and re-organisation some of the exhibits, and especially the helicopter section, have been placed so close together that they are difficult to photograph.
