The aircraft was registered to KLM late April 1935 but was involved in an accident at Schiphol on Juli 14, 1935. The aircraft took off from Schiphol, bound for Malmö Sweden (with stops in Hamburg and Copenhagen). When engines 1 and 2 began losing power, the pilot was forced to return to Schiphol .The aircraft struck the slope of the number 4 highway and crashed. A fire erupted afterwards.

The D.XVII was the successor of the D.XVI, the latter not being a success with lots of crashes and engine troubles. After a short trial period, 10 aircraft were ordered. Including the prototype, they were registered 201-211. According to ASN, '201' was lost while performing aerobatics on May 23, 1936. Both wings broke off at 6000m. The pilot managed to parachute to safety.

As May 10, 1940 passed, only 7 were left in service (202-205, 207, 209 , 210). The Air Force training base at Texel was attacked on this day, during which 204 was likely damaged. From the remaining 6 fighters, 202 and 203 were hit by friendly fire. During other non-operational movements, a further 2 were damaged. Only 1 mission was flown; 205, 209 and 210 were scheduled on a mission to Grebbeberg, where they were to support 4 C.V's and a C.X in a tactical ground support mission. But 209 had engine troubles at the start and didn't participate. The mission was a failure due to several reasons.

The old fighter wears the orange triangle markings introduced 1 October 1939 but it is listed as withdrawn that July. Perhaps it found a non-flying retirement job.

14 Fokker D.XVI's (275 - 288) were delivered, of which the first few aircraft had a Jaguar engine. They were troublesome engines which often caused problems and the need for a revision well before the indicated maximum flight hours of the engine. 277 was equipped with a Panther engine in July 1932 and set an altitude record (9587 m / 31,453 ft) in June 1932. In 1935 the aircraft was equipped with a different Panther engine and a three-bladed prop (with no armament). The aircraft was eventually taken by the Germans at Texel. The pilot here is Gerhard Sandberg.

10 D.XVII's were ordered by the Air Force (201 - 210) and 207 was built in 1933. In March 1939 207 was part of the 2 JaVA, based at Waalhaven. On May 12, 1940 3 D.XVII's took off for Ruigenroek, but all 3 experienced landing incidents. 203 braked too hard and ground looped, 207 undershot the runway and 205 suffered landing gear damage when running into barbed wire. 203 and 207 were write-offs.

713 first flew on April 2, 1936 and entered service in May 1936. In May 1940 the aircraft was based at Bergen and was the first aircraft to attack Valkenburg on May 10. The aircraft made 4 wartime flights. On May 14, 1940 it made a flight to Ruigenhoek and was set on fire by friendlies. 704 first flew on February 28, 1936 and entered service sometime in 1936. In May 1940 it was parked in hangar 4 at Bergen for revision, when it was destroyed during a bombing. For info on 707 see my other photo.

709 made its first flight on March 6, 1936. In May 1940 it was parked in hangar 4 at Bergen for revision, when it was destroyed during a bombing. 705 had its first flight on February 28, 1936 at was also stationed at Bergen. It made a couple of wartime flights and on May 14, 1940 it was flown to France and abandoned at Dunkirk.

The aircraft first flew on May 26, 1938 and entered service on August 12, 1938. In May 1940 it was equipped with a radio, making it only 1 of 3 radio-equipped aircraft out of all D.XXI's. The aircraft made 6 wartime flights and was burned at Schiphol during the capitulation. The aircraft was part of the 1 JaVA of the 2 aviation regiment at Ypenburg.

First flight on September 22, 1938 and entered service a week later. In December 1939 the aircraft was damaged while being flown by Sgt Jacob Roos. On May 15, 1940, it was seized by the Germans while still under repair at Fokker and cannibalised to support other captured examples.

The aircraft involved was the Fokker 100 prototype and testbed. It was used for continous testing of soft-& hardware. On this occasion, they were testing the capabilities of a new landing gear from a Canadian company. For this, the aircraft made several high weight/high speed landings/ Even though the manufacturer indicated maximum loads were never reached, the gear collapsed during one of the touch & go's. I found this photo with the photos in the batch with PH-UBA, PH-UBB and PH-UBC. The aircraft is likely one of the 3, but I'm unable to read the name or any other inscriptions on the fuselage underneath the cockpit. If I'm correct that the aircraft name is the 2 words in the location mentioned previously, then it can only be the PH-UBB, as that's the only one out of the 3 aircraft with a 2-word name. Location unknown to me as well. If you have more information, I'd love to hear!

Built in 1935 and ex. VR-RAI (colonial registration for Malaysia). First registered OY-DEZ between 1940 and 1942. In 1942 it became SE-ALD, to G-AMZO in 1952. In 1973 the aircraft came back to Denmark. At the time of the upload it was still on loan to the Dansk Veteranflysamling in Stauning (Denmark). I'm not sure when the aircraft went from active to preserved, but I've seen a photo from July 1983 where it seemed to be inside the museum already.
