The Aircraft Engineering Wing (AEW) is the main overhaul centre of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF). One of its projects was the construction of a single Pazmany PL-2 side-by-side trainer aircraft from a kit obtained from the USA. The aircraft resembles the Italian-built SF-260 used in large numbers by the SLAF. Its serial depicts it was used in an experimental role, rather than for training new pilots.
