A former Luftwaffe F-86 (delivered as BB+170 in the early seventies, and later on also carried D-9538) was sold on the civil market in 1977. It arrived at Duxford (UK) but was eventually sold to Flight Systems, Inc, Mojave (CA) in April 1979. It received registration N1039C, but that changed into N82FS in October 1981. The aircraft served the company for several years and was sold to N.V.L. CORP, Washington DC (MD) on 10 April 1998 and received registration N186JC. The Sabre was fully destroyed in a high speed impact on 19 June 1999, killing its pilot.

Four very nice original coloured T-Birds of the Canadian Armed Forces were deployed to Tyndall to participate in a small scale exercise. One of the CT-133s was this 133615 that started its life with the CAF on 17 July 1958. The aircraft, that was later modified to CE-133 for electronic warfare missions, was sold to the USA as N615RC with Cactus Air Force at Carson City (NV) in July 2006 (and by September 2020 it was still assigned to this warbird operator)

This old F-4D shows a red kill-mark on its splitter plate. The Phantom was credited for a MiG-21 kill with an AIM-7E Sidewinder over North Vietnam on 16 April 1972. The aircraft was then assigned to the 523rd TPS with tailcode "PN". The 111st Fighter Interceptor Squadron operated this F-4D from home base Ellington ANGB (TX) and deployed it to Tyndall AFB (FL) for a small scale exercise.

The 95th Fighter Interceptor Training Squadron was activated at Tyndall on 15 Aug'74. The squadron transitioned from the F-106 (then based at Dover and inactivated in 1972) to the T-33A. The FITSgave support to the Weapons Controller Training Programme at Tyndall as well as providing training to new T-Bird pilots and QF-drone chase support for the USAF Weapons System Evaluation Programme. The 95th was the last active USAF unit to fly the T-33. The squadron transitioned to F-15 Eagle in 1988 as 95th TFTS and became later 95th FS, was inactivated in Sep'10 and activated in Oct'13 with the F-22A.

The 318th Fighter Interceptor Squadron was deactivated on 7 December 1989. The squadron flew at that time the F-15 Eagle, the units T-33As - inuse as used as a proficiency trainer and practice "bogey" aircraft within the squadron, were already phased out in 1988. The squadron was based at McChord AFB (WA), so it was a real fine surprise to see these lovely T-Birds thousands of miles from home during a small scale exercise at Tyndall (FL). This 57-0765 was retired to AMARC with inventory code TCC061, (later this became TC1361) on 19 February 1988.

The units T-33As - in use as used as a proficiency trainer and practice "bogey" aircraft - were already phased out in 1988. The squadron was based at McChord AFB (WA), so it was a real fine surprise to see these lovely T-Birds thousands of miles from home during a small scale exercise at Tyndall (FL). This 58-0616 was retired to AMARC with inventory code TCC054, (later this became TC1354) on 5 February 1988.

The 136th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, based at Niagra Falls (NY) and part of the New York ANG, participated in a small exercise at Tyndall AFB (FL). The squadron swapped to F-16ADFs in 1990 and flies as the 136th Air Refueling Squadron the KC-135 since March 1994. Another change came up on 1 July 2008 when the squadron changed again, this time it became the 136th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron, operating the C-130H. This changes did not end... from 2014 onwards the C-130Hs were moved and the MQ-9 Reaper was introduced, officially from March 2017.
