Eastern's DC-8-61 was delivered on 23 February 1967. To Japan Als on 11 June 1971 as JA8050. An Eastern short fuselage DC-9-14 is posed alongside for comparison. From EAL 40 years ago.

This aircraft is now preserved in the Museum of Flight.

Whilst there are a handful of Wigas in the USA now, this photograph was taken in the days when Eastern Bloc aircraft were a real rarity in the West. I have never been a fan of taking photos of aircraft when they are covered but made an exception for this one, the first of the type I had ever seen

This aircraft was the ex 49-1619 and it later became N128AF

Was operated by Pan Am from 1969 until 1971, under military marks, on a weekly service as PA163 from Mombasa, Kenya to a satellite tracking station at Mahe, Seychelles.

Operated by the Foundation for Airborne Relief.

Stored at Long Beach for several years. Sale reported in August 1982, but fate unknown. The FAA incorrectly lists this aircraft as c/n 11352, which is not a valid number for a DC-3.
