The Greek air force received over 150 different T-33s (T-33A, RT-33A, and Canadian-built AT-33ANs), they were all retired in the 90s. Several were placed in musea, but most, like this 1958 built TR-520 ended its career at a dump. TR-520 was seen here at the flightline of its homebase Souda in 1992.

The 222 MEA at Souda (Crete) was equipped with some eighteen T-33A Shooting Stars. At least four of these were painted in a striking orange colourscheme and in use as target towing platform. These bright ones often took off from Souda with a supporting mission for the nearby NATO Missile Firing Installation (NAMFI) installation that was located at the Greek island. The target (an orange iron "bomb") was pulled on a very long rope behind the T-33A. On the NAMFI range air defense artillery tries to find the target and shoot at it...

In the mid-90s, this T-bird sadly ended up at the dump of Souda.

This T-33A was withdrawn from use in the mid-90s and was dumped at Souda air base.

The US Navy decided to unmark their C-20, C-37 and C-40 fleet as much as possible, so they look anonymous. This C-40A is a "great" example of it while operated by most probably VR-59 during a flight to Souda (Greece).

An EP-3E Airborne Reconnaissance Integrated Electronic System (ARIES) II seen during its landing at its Forward Operating Base (FOB) Souda air base (Crete, Greece). This aircraft belonged to Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron (VQ) 1 "World Watchers". Its role is aerial reconnaissance and gathering electronic and signals intelligence. The squadron is is based at NAS Whidbey Island (WA). The EP-3Es wil be retired soon, as the modern P-8A Poseidon (a military variant of the Boeing 737) is taking over its role.

This dual seat Hellenic Viper (Block 52+) was ordered in the Peace Xenia III programme and carries foreign military sales serial 99-1539. The aircraft was delivered to Greece in June 2003 and operated since then from Souda air base at Crete.

Operating Libyan dawn brought deployments to the Mediterranean area. The one at Souda (Crete, Greece) was the most interesting one. The multi-state NATO-led coalition began a military intervention - Operation Unified Protector - in and over Libya. The Qatari Emeri Air Force deployed five Mirage 5EDAs and one 5DDA. This 5EDA of 7sq is seen fully armed with air-to-air missiles. The QEAF only flew Combat Air Patrols (air defence) during the operation, to prevent Libyan military aircraft to take off. They always flew in formation with French Mirage 2000s as Qatar was not used to NATO operations.

380 Mira ASEPE "Uranos" based at Elefsis (Greece) is the owner of this weird looking Embraer 145 in an Airborne Early Warning and Control configuration. The Elliniki Polemiki Aeroporia bought four EMB145H Erieye in February 2009.
