The Defiant, carrying all its four guns in its dorsal turret, initially fought as a day fighter in the Battle of Britain but was soon shifted to the night fighter role.

Seen rehearsing for the show, this was one of the first British Chinooks upgraded to Mk HC6A standard, similar to the new-built Chinook HC6. This is equivalent but not identical to the CH-47F.

A new EC135, or H135, or Juno training helicopter for the Defence Helicopter Training School at RAF Shawbury, seen against the backdrop of the National Cold War Exhibition building at Cosford.

Fomerly G-CJIV. The H145 Jupiter is slightly larger than the H135 Juno, and the three Jupiters acquired by the Ascent company replaced the Bell Griffin with the Search and Rescue Training Unit at RAF Valley.

Named Prefect, the Grob G 120TP was chosen to replace the Grob Tutor as the Royal Air Force's elementary trainer. The G 120TP is a development of the G 120A with a turboprop engine and a glass cockpit.

The highlight for me of the Cosford airshow, this Canadian-built Bolingbroke IV was restored as a Blenheim IF night fighter with the original short nose. Although unsuccesful in combat, the Blenheim bomber was one of the most numerous British aircraft early in World War II
