Merredin was a ghost town at the time of upload after after its operator, China Southern West Australian Flying College, went into liquidation in 2020. It had trained pilots for Chinese airlines, notably China Southern. The airport had been leased to the college for 100 years starting in 2017. An attempt to sell the lease in 2021 came to nothing and the latest chart shows permission from the college is needed to land there. The airport has extensive undercover aircraft parking, hangars, classrooms and accommodation. A control tower, far left of the photo, was operated by the college.
