The aircraft featured a single 65hp engine, fixed tricycle gear and a single seat cockpit. The construction began in 1968, with a first flight in 1972. By the end of February 1974, the aircraft had logged 200 hours of testing. By November 2012, the aircraft was no longer registered in the USA. At some point, it turned up at this airfield. This is the only Gipsy Hawk ever built. It's former US registration appears to have been N71RJ.

On October 14, 2017 the aircraft was substantially damaged in a landing accident on a narrow asphalt road near Kibbutz Sa'ad. The pilot aimed to land at the beginning of the runway, but touched down some 21 metersbefore the curve of the road. It impacted a 50-60cm high dirt mound and bounched high up. When it touched down again, part of the gear collapsed and the aircraft come to a stop in a field. The tail section was severed in the event.
