The Twinstarr Gyroplane was designed by Don Farrington and kits were originally produced by Farrington Aircraft Corporation in the USA. After his death the assets of Farrington Aircraft were acquired by Woody De Saar who hoped to produce Twinstarr kits in Europe. However as the original design was too heavy to meet UK certification requirements he and his brother designed a lighter version powered by a two cylinder Verner engine

Although the word "Twinstar" appears on this aircraft it should have a second R at the end i.e. Twinstarr. This had to be done due to the pre-existence of the Aerospatiale Twinstar. The Twinstarr gyroplane was designed by Don Farrington and the kits were originally marketed by Faringdon Aircraft Corporation. The design was too heavy to qualify for UK certification and a lighter version the Twinstarr Lite was produced with a Verner two cylinder engine in an attempt to achieve UK certification

This amateur-built helicopter seems to have some design similarity to the Millennium MH-1 but predates the introduction of this American kit having been first registered in 1997. There are also significant differences to the tail boom and undercarriage.

Testimonial to the ruggedness of the Cessna structure, this model 180 took off from the Winnipeg River full of freight at max gross then stalled over land. The pilot suffered only minor injuries, protected by the two heavy spar frames and the float bows which look like they absorbed a lot of the impact.
