Some "refugee" Ryans from the Dutch East Indies were pressed into service in Dutch markings but S-54 was officially A50-26 with the RAAF at the time of the photo. In RAAF service they were used for communications. The RAAF also operated them as landplanes despite many of the aircraft previously operating on floats. A50-26 became VH-AGX post World War II and very soon after was shipped to Hong Kong as VR-HDM. The location of the photo at Cootamundra is an educated guess because no location was given.
