This FRS1 was first flown on 15 Dec'79 and delivered to the Royal Navy on 31 Jan'80. Assigned to 899 NAS. The Harrier became a double "Skyhawk killer" when deployed to the Falklands aboard HMS Hermes. XZ457 shot down A-4Q 0660 on 21 May'82 and on the same day A-4Q 0665. Later it shot down Daggers C-419 and C-430 on 24may82. It returned to UK on 21 Jul'82, converted to F/A2 at Dunsfold. The Sea Harrier was written off on 20 Oct'95 when exploded on the runway at Yeovilton. Stored with severe fire damage up to '96, restored for preservation at the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection since 2012.
