The SAAF's 21 Sqd took delivery of four DH.125s in 1970. It was named Mercurius in SAAF service. Three were lost when they flew into Devil's Peak outside Cape Town on 26 May 1971 while taking part in the rehearsal for the Republic Day celebrations. ZS-JIH was one of three replacments delivered in January 1972. Intially the fleet carried military serial numbers and national insignia. ZS-JIH was 07, but moved to the civilian register in May 1984 and flew in this discrete colour scheme.
