Following storm damage at Portland in November 1928 while operated by 480 (Coastal Reconnaissance) Flight, the aircraft was purchased and the hull modified for use as a houseboat. By the early 1950s the hull was located, alongside the hull of a Fairey Atlanta, at Bawdsey Ferry near Felixtowe, Suffolk. In 1966 the now disused hull was sold to the RAF Museum for £75 and transported to Henlow before moving to nearby Cardington c1973 for restoration. The beautifully restored fuselage was put on display at Hendon in May 1995 and is the sole survivor of the type. This photo was added on 28 September 2025, and has since been viewed 40 times. |
