On display on the flight deck of museum ship CV-10 USS Yorktown. The AEW Tracer was a TF-1 (C-1A) airframe lengthened by 18 in. with a short middle fin to support the AN/APS-82 radar. It had rearward-folding wings. The type served from 1960-77 in the carrier-based AEW role and was flown during the Vietnam War where it controlled CAP fighters and strikes over North Vietnam. This "Willy Fudd" is one of 88 built at Bethpage. It wears the emblem of VAW-111 "Grey Berets" that embarked on several carriers.
