First flown in August 1954 and serving 37, 38, 224, 203 & 205 Sqdns as an MR.2 along with a period at the A&AEE, this Shackleton was converted to AEW.2 for 8 Sqdn in 1972. It was w/o on 30 April 1990 when it crashed into a hill on the Isle of Harris in poor weather while participating in a maritime exercise in the Benbecula area to the west of mainland Scotland This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
