This T-45A is painted in the markings worn by a VF-96 F-4J on 10 May 1972 that shot down three North Vietnamese MIGs on one flight. The Radar Intercept Officer (RIO) was LT(jg) Willie Driscoll, in whose honor this was done. All prospective RIOs are trained by TAW-6 and receive their wings at NAS Pensacola. This aircraft was on display in conjunction with the Training Air Wing Six Change of Command Ceremony at the National Naval Aviation Museum. This is an active U.S. Navy aircraft and not part of the museum collection. This photo is copyright © Bob Thomas, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
