Built in 1933 and registered as NC13464, this Reliant's first owner was William Lear (founder of Learjet Corporation). The aircraft had a number of private American owners and one of them converted the Reliant to floats in 1949. In 1953 it was registered in Canada as CF-HAW by the first of many subsequent Canadian owners. Stored as non-airworthy from 1957 to 1963. Restored to airworthy condition from 1963. Renovation was carried out again in the 1970s. In 1981, Akela Aircraft Repair purchased the aircraft, selling it two years later to the Museum, where it arrived, on floats, in June 1983.
