This aircraft was painted to compete in the 1994 JASDF combat competition. At that time, the JASDF's F4EJs were undergoing a change of paint scheme from their official gull gray to the new air superiority camouflage. This aircraft's standard gull gray paintwork was overlaid with a bluish-gray overlay to resemble the new air superiority camouflage.
