Probably built at Focke-Wulf's Bernberg plant in 1944, this long-nose Fw-190 was operated on bomber intercepts in the late stages of WWII by Udet Gerschwader, IV (Sturm)/JG 3. It was surrendered to the RAF at Flensburg and was shipped to here at Wright Field in June 1945 for testing using the serial FE-120 (FE=Foreign Evaluation) then T2-120 (T2=Office of Air Force Intelligence). In 1960 it was taken into the care of the Smithsonian/National Air Museum, Washington, DC and went on loan to the USAFM by 1975 This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
