Operation Creek Party, in which ANG and AFRes tankers supported active duty USAF and NATO units in Europe, ran for 10 years from 1967. The Stratofreighter on display at NMUSAF was converted in 1965 from KC-97G by the addition of two J47 jets to KC-97L and was flown by the 160th ARG, Ohio ANG when it participated in this operation. In June 1973, the mayor of Zeppelinheim, a town near Rhein-Main AB in West Germany, christened it in his town's honour.
