Built as a B-57B, 52-1499 was initially used at Wright-Patterson AFB for test work, being modified to JB-57B in 1960 as a high-altitude target and for camera calibration. In 1964 it was loaned to the Lear Jet Corp for more tests but in 1966 was converted back to B-57B standard, deploying with the 8th BS/35th TFW, Phan Rang, Vietnam for combat duties. Stored at MASDC from 1969, it was converted to EB-57B in 1972 and assigned to the 17th DSES/Kansas ANG then in 1979 to the 134th DSES/Vermont ANG.
