In April/May 1960, VH-SSX was converted to an EP-9C with an Armstrong-Siddeley Cheetah radial, of which there were an abundance from war surplus Oxfords and Ansons. SSX was damaged in a grass fire, at Keith, South Australia, on April 11, 1967. The fire had been sparked by a hot car exhaust.
