HB796/G was used as a countermeasures aircraft, tasked with dropping "window" to jam German radar. The 'G' added to the registration indicates this aircraft had to be guarded at all time. On February 9, 1945 it took off from RAF Oulton in support of a raid on the Ruhr. About an hour later it crashed into the sea off Kent killing all 10 crew.
