The US Navy ordered 100 NR-1 Recruits to help training the burgeoning number of pilots required in 1941. This aircraft on display at the National Naval Aviation Museum is actually an Army PT-22C, 41-15512, which went to civil as N49086, hence the fake serial. Well done to anybody that can name all the types in the background! This photo is copyright © Alastair T. Gardiner, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
