The PC-6 Porter, first flown in 1959, had a Lycoming piston engine of some 350 hp. More powerful turbine engines are smaller and lighter and were installed farther forward to maintain the centre of gravity. As F-BSTF, this airframe was the last PC-6/A flying with an Astazou turboprop. It got a PT6 in 2002.
