The Bristol Coanda Monoplanes were a total of 37 monoplane trainers designed by the Romanian designer Henri Coandă, a former fellow student of Caproni in Belgium, for the British company. Prior to WWI, the Italian Army had some Bristols of other types in service and Caproni tinkered and improved these designs. This exhibit is the oldest existing Bristol in the world. It was built in England in November, 1912, but its service record is unknown. It was already in the Caproni museum by 1938 and was then stored in Villa Caproni until 1988, when it underwent extensive restoration for display. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
