During Konfrontasi, a conflict between Malaysia and Indonesia, allies of the UK and Malaysia were barred from Indonesia air space. RNZAF Canberras, accompanied by RNZAF Hastings, had to make a long diversion to reach their base at Tengah, Singapore. NZ6104 was lost on November 30, 1964 when it crashed at the China Rock bombing range near Singapore. Kwajalein is the base for US nuclear testing on Bikini Atoll.
