VT855 was in a formation of four aircraft that was unable to find Malpensa airport and force landed near Brescia. Three, including VT855, were written off but the third was repaired and taken on charge by the Italian air force. The location of the accident site has been variously described as 50 miles south or east of Brescia. 50 miles from Brescia is far enough away to be much closer other major towns and 50 may be an error for 5 miles.
