Sikorsky S-61N, C-FWYN operated by Coulson Aircrane is seen here hauling logs off mountain slopes just south of Stawamus Chief Mountain, a 700 m (2,297 ft) high granitic dome on the outskirts of Squamish, BC. It previously flew for Greenlandair as OY-HBJ, Resorts International and Trump Air as N221RA, before imported to Canada in 1992. About one month after this photo was taken the aircraft crashed at Canoe Creek, BC on April 2 during logging operations and was destroyed by fire after the No.2 engine lost all power due an uncontained failure of the power turbine, then No. 2 quit. Two injured. This photo is copyright © Kenneth I. Swartz, and may not be used or published in any way without permission. It was added on 7 December 2021, and has since been viewed 384 times. |
