Tasked with blowing up Konstanz airfield, Maj Arno Albrecht, a German infantry officer with limited flying experience, chose to cross into Switzerland in this Fw 44, NV-KF, on 26 April 1945. It was an early Fw 44F, built in 1934. It was interned and painted in the smart yellow Swiss trainer livery, but rarely used until sold to a flying school at Birrfeld as a glider tug, HB-EBN, in 1953. Photo from: ETH-Bibliothek Zürich
