Derived from the MF.11 'Shorthorn', the Farman HF.20 and HF.22 were the first aircraft type acquired in numbers by the Dutch army and navy in 1913-14. This wonderful picture shows one of the naval Farmans as a trainer towards the end of its career in 1919. De Kooy airfield near the naval port in Den Helder opened on 7 October 1918.
