Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport was built as a child of the Cold War. Construction began in December 1951 and was completed by June 1952. The field was granted to Canada and became a military base, RCAF Station Baden-Soellingen, later renamed CFB Baden-Söllingen, from 1953 until 1994. This Starfighter memorial is in Söllingen, a village close to the airfield and commemorates the Canadians' stay in the region. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
