The York was a transport derivative of the Lancaster bomber, with a new fuselage and a third tailfin. Both RAF and civil Yorks served on the Berlin Airlift. Plugged windows on York freighters were sometimes repainted on, as seen here. This photo is copyright © Peter de Jong, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
