On 21 September Dakota 6843 of the SAAF's 86 Multi-Engine Flying School suffered an in-flight fire in the vicinity of Bloemfontein in the then Orange Free State. The crew landed next to the N1 highway south of the city. This photo was taken later that month along the N1 south of Bloemfontein when the airframe was salvaged. It was later written off.
