One of three of type designated as Air Force One when the President was on board. Here visiting while on a practice run this day to EGLL for the upcoming visit of President Eisenhower on 27 August 1959. Seen here still in the original VC-137A configuration with the old Pratt & Whitney JT3C-6 engines. Upgraded to P&W JT3D-3 engines in 1963, and redesignated to VC-137B. This aircraft has been on display at the Museum of Flight, Seattle/WA since 1996. This photo was added on 26 March 2021, and has since been viewed 1108 times. |
