This display in the FAA Museum is a tribute to Eric 'Winkle' Brown, the test pilot who died on 21 February 2016 aged 97. Flown by Brown, this Vampire became the first jet to land on an aircraft carrier on 3 December 1945. It is a prototype Vampire, first flown on 17 Mach 1944.
