The first Victor production aircraft flew on 1.2.56 - at this time, the only UK-based aircraft with sufficient performance to intercept it at height were the F-101 Voodoos of the USAF's 81st TFW. This early example was delivered to the RAF on 29.11.57 and is seen here hoping for preservation in its original white colours (but note camo outboard wing panels). It was, however, sold as scrap just seven months later This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
