D-5855 was built in 1961 for the Universität Freiburg to serve as a research aircraft. It's performance was increased by modifying it with a continuous oval fuselage shell and careful surface treatment. In 2004 it was handed over to the Deutsches Segelflugmuseum at Wasserkuppe.
