The officers' mess monument at Eindhoven, the original, genuine one, before it was replaced by a replica. This Spitfire was on display here since 1955, first as (fake) MJ289/VL-V, later as H-15 / MK959, its true identity. Taken down circa 1990, initially for use in the restoration of another Spitfire at Deelen AB, and replaced by a one-on-one copy which has graced the mess to this day. The real H-15 was sold to the USA in 1994 for restoration, and made its first post-restoration flight on 19 Feb 2004 as N959RT, painted as RAF MK959/5A-K. Still current by 2020.
